GUIDE: How Do I Create an Original Banner?

PART 1: OPEN A NEW THE GIMP FILE:

1. Open The Gimp

2. Go to File>New (Ctrl+N)

3. Preset: Web banner huge 728×90

4. Under the Advanced Options set:

• Resolution: 72 pixels/inch

• Mode: RGB color

• Select Contents: White

5. Click OK.

6. File>Save As… (Shift+Ctrl+S) and name the file “banner.xcf” into your Documents>originals folder.

PART 2: CREATE THE BANNER

1. Fill the selected area with an interesting color and texture.

2. Place text and anything else you want on your canvas.

3. Save the file.

PART 3:SAVE FOR THE WEB IN GIF FORMAT

(Can also be saved in JPG or PNG format)

1. Choose File > Save As… Name the file banner1.gif and save into the Documents>beta_images folder.

2. In the Export File dialogue box, select Convert to Indexed using default settings. Click Export

3. In the Save as GIF dialogue box click OK.
