Gesso Pattern

If you look at most of my images I have many different patterns. If you look at the food god peice the background almost looks like a 3-d map, and it is 3-d. I created it by laying down gessor and with my brush making the layover very choppy.

Drying

I then left the peice alone and allowed it to fully dry for a couple hours. When it was complete I sprayed all the gesso with very bright colors such as orange red and green.

Thanks for sharing! There is so much great stuff on artbistro and often because of the small viewing size available and lack of descriptions by the artist it is hard to glean much of anything from people's work... thanks again!

I use this trick on almost all my works.

Chocolate Rabbit Meltdown
A chocolate rabbit is shown melting three times. While humorous, the controlled color palette and slow minor tones of the background make for an almost soothing display of slow destruction.
