Paint the Clouds

Posted 3 months ago Each night before he goes to sleep, She appears inside his room. She whispers words into his pillow So he'll hear them in his dreams.
Each day before he rises, She makes his cup of tea From the tears she cries when she's alone So he'll taste the way she feels.
Each time he drives those country roads, She paints the sky above With the colors of her heart and soul So he'll see the depth of love.
But one day he'll lay his head to sleep And his nights will be too silent. He'll wake up then in the early dawn But his tea will taste too bitter.
He'll drive that path and see no sun For the skies are misty gray now. Because every day he went along, With not a thought of her at all.
She felt herself fade from his mind Her efforts all in vain. So she packed her words inside a box And covered it with the tears. The paint she used to touch the clouds Set the box ablaze.
No longer will he have to say 'I love you' when he doesn't. And no longer will she have to give To the one who shouldn’t have her.
