How much is to much to pay to be in a art show? We have a art show here in KY for one weekend and for that weekend it is $500 to have a your stuff there. You have to be picked to have any think there. I think that is to much for just 3 days.

Then don't bring your "stuff"... bring your art... unless you're selling cats on a coffee cup... then I would say $500 is too much... unless you got a ton of cups

BTW... how many "thinkers" do they have there???

222 journalists and media assistants have been killed in Iraq since March of 2003... more than World Wars 1 & 2, Korea & Vietnam combined.

For a more realistic post: $500 is crazy......gotta be a misprint - it's probably $50, right? If not, send me a link to this shindig !

The booth fee depends on a lot. The location (meaning the demography of the area..some areas sell at higher prices and therefore charge a higher booth fee), the popularity of that particular show, how long it has been running, attendance head counts, etc. There is a trade magazine specifically for artists and crafters who do the show circuit called "Sunshine Artist". They do reviews of art shows all over the country. These reviews include booth fees so you can see for yourself and compare. If your specific show isn't listed, find one from a town or area near the art show you want, compare the sizes, compare the costs and see for yourself. Some booth fees are cheap ($50.00 or $80.00) but some go upwards of $2,000.00. It just depends on all those factors I listed (and more probably). Decide if it's worth it based on the type of art you sell, what each piece sells for, and figure out how many you need to sell to recoup your expenses. If it seems feasible to sell the figure you come up with, then go for it.

Depends on how big they expect their turn out to be. $500 doesn't seem that unreasonable. They are probably just tying to weed out people who arn't serious, but if they have a crappy turnout, then it isn't worth it. It's always a gamble.
