Fine Art/ Commercial Art

Posted 3 months ago I'd like to know how one moves into a good job without a background in Graphic Art. It seems as though, as the discussion followed the line that every good job today has to do with art on the web and working in Graphic Design. What is a fine artist to do in today's market? I enjoy painting but I found that the jobs that are on the New York Foundation for the Arts website are very difficult positions to get. One must be a master of many mediums including all kind of web based office and art programs. Which is what I am looking to find training in, but where does on go to get the best training at the most reasonable prices? It's very confusing to me, and leaves me going nowhere. Since the art world seems to be such a difficult one to make a living in. And many of us fall by the wayside.

If you want good training there are internet based classes for almost all softwares. Services like Youtube often have FREE home made tutorials you can follow to learn software basics. I suggest learning one software at a time. Really know it, then move on to the next. Also- another thing to keep in mind is that it is true companies want you to know certain softwares. What you need to do is learn the software enough so that you can produce results that satisfy you. You do not have to know what every tool and every button does- you only need to know how to get a job done. If your future place of employment uses the same software in a different way- they will teach you their way of doing things once you are hired. Lastly, do not get overwhelmed or frustrated thinking about how much there is to learn ahead of you. Instead, think about all the knowledge you are on the road to learning. Think of the personal achievement. Think of the higher pay you can recieve!
