ok here's my situation:

I am going to be a junior this september at a public school. The school only has 2 fashion courses. Fashion Design 1 & Fashion Design 2. I took them both my freshman & sophmore years. Since I wanted to continue taking fashion design courses I requested to go to a vocational school that offers a 2 year fashion design course. It's linked with my school, So i would go to vocational school for half the day & then go to classes in my regular school half the day. And it would be like that for my junior & senior year. Will that actually help me in my career or will it hurt me? And should i just cancel the vocational school and just have a full day of regular high school courses & take art as an elective? PLEASE please help me. I need to make a decision before september.

If your heart is set on fashion design (and it sounds like it is) then I think things couldn't have worked out any better. Still, I would check with your guidance counselor to make sure you have all your credits in line for college. Good luck!

exactly, and soon! vo-tech could help, but you're heading for a very competitive field. be sure it's what you want & that this will give you what you need. you only get one shot at high school. make the most of it.

I would go for the vocational school...since you have already taken the 2 fashion courses your school offered..branch out.  And seeing that you will be going back and forth..vocational school and then the regular.. what a great opportunity...I wish they had had something like this in my day..The year of the flood...

Gekko is correct about that field being competitive..so armed yourself with as much experience as possible. But don't worry about the competition , just focus on what you can do...remember the one running the race... if he keeps looking behind  the others will catch up and pass...so focus on you.

good luck!

Why do I paint?....because I don't have a tail to wag...arf arf

go for the vocational school! it can only help you.... it may feel i bit overwhelming in the next two years going between two schools but in the grand scheme of things it is only temporary.  esp. if you are planning to continue studying fashion design in college it will put you steps ahead of those students entering from high schools that offered no fashion design course work.  also you may find later on that having completed so much course work in fashion design will open up your schedule allowing you to explore different fields of study.   i wish you the best of luck!

cheers! :)
