How can anyone tell anyone to stick to one thing....I find that I get so much out of each medium that i work in....from painting...so medatative...mosaics...smashing things then puting them back together...sculpting.....listening to what it wants to become....encaustics...yum...melting wax....the list goes on and on from poetry...singing...banging on drums...plucking my bass....sweeping the floor....organizing my closets...and I still find myself wanting to find a new inspiration....something that will keep me excited to wake up each morning....may i never stick to "one thing" other than maybe LOVE .................

True, but if Michaelangelo had the choice, he would stick to sculpturing and never paint again. He made the comment: "Painting is for women.", which he didn't mean as a compliment.

Da Vinci loved all new things, to explore, to learn, to experiment....

I write, and draw, and paint, and I try to stick to a project, but if it seems to become forced I change up, and come to back to it, with a fresh mind. so mixing it up is a good thing, but then you become too scatter brained, I know this for a fact.

I can't.  I go where I am drawn to.  If I feel like painting, I paint.  If I feel like drawing, I draw.  If I feel like throwing some kind of crazy craftwork or photoshop work together, I do it.

I wanted to practice drawing comics a few weeks back...try and revamp some of the existing heroes/ villians costumes.  Couldn't get myself in the mood.  Thats when my current avatar came to pass.

you don't have to stick to on thing if you don't want to, from what i understand is that all of the great artist usually didn't stick to one medium, but it is intresting that you don't seem to stick to one form of art to expess yourself, much less one medium.

I'm much the same way. The "are you an artist" quiz docked me points 'cuz I don't toil at the grindstone. I want to be a dilettante when I grow up.

Exactly. Why would you want to stick to one thing anyway? If you hone one talent, they might call you a specialist. But if you explore all the other things you want to, it just means you have diverse interests and will develop even more talents, connections, and well-rounded awesomeness. A true renaissance man.
