Posted 4 months ago I'm looking to purchase a disc or set of all purpose clip art to keep on hand. The sites that I've been looking into seem to have a weekly subscription or options to puchase individual clip art pieces. It would be nice to have some high resolution photos on hand, along with some vector art. Any suggestions? |

| Posted 4 months ago While the pieces aren't high-res, something I'm glad I did was sign up for the Dover Publications weekly sample email. They're really only good for reference and web-based stuff as they're just samples, but I like having them around just in case. It's easy enough to trace something into a vector object if you have the programs and want to use the shape or design, anyway.
As for collections, MasterClips is great. I have one of the first editions from the mid-90s and it's still useful (and affordable at well under $100 for hundreds of thousands of pictures depending on the edition, some photos, some motifs, parts of Dover collections, etc). Tens of thousands are vector images. Worth the investment, in my opinion! |

| Posted 3 months ago Not tryin to be funny but you can pick up a CD of clip art from most 99cent stores or in big lots.... |

| Posted about 1 month ago Thank you Mason. Nova Development took about 2 months to deliver the clip art. The catalog on the CD isn't compatible with Windows Vista. On the plus side, for $5.00 they will send you the catalog in a 3" book. Turns out, this is the same clip art library that I used in school. I got the Art Explosion 800,000 with my $100 birthday present money. It has every conceivable subject. On the downside, the previews don't show up in Bridge, they have to be opened one at a time in Illustrator. |

| Posted 24 days ago That Catalog app doesn't work on my G5 either. (My version is Art Explosion 525,000 circa 1999) Bridge is better anyway. That 3" thick book is handy for thumbing through the collections although mine doesn't show all the photos available (just a single image for each category. To peruse all the images you need to use Bridge. I'm surprised to hear Bridge didn't work for you. Please try using it again. Be sure you navigate to the hi-rez image folders and not the catalog or preview image folders and then, wait. Give it several minutes. I had a similar problem one time (with another image collection) and it turned out that I wasn't giving Bridge enough time to create the previews. The way I understand Bridge, it should work with any image file no matter what. My favs are the old, classic and traditional bitmaps in the back of the book. And, of course, the tons of royalty free photos. Let me know about your second try with Bridge. |
