What is a dish that you've eaten or tried at some point in your life that was completely created from scratch?

I remember my mother making a strawberry jelly 4 layer cake.  It was gooooood.

We make hollywood squares & buckeyes from scratch all the time. Imagine peanut butter overload meeting chocolate delight in a way that make's Reeses jealous. A midwest tradition.

Well, nearly every woman in my family (mother's side) makes their meals and baked goods from scratch. I myself am more of a baker. I make things from Pineapple cake that is moist and crumbles down once on your plate to pecan pie to silk mousse pies and shakes and more. I just amde a new dish the other week and my family loved it! I have had to make it 3 times since then.

My favorite as a child was my mom's homemade biscuits, and my grandma's homemade pineapple cake. I started cooking when I was 4-years-old with the two of them as teachers.

My Grandma's split pea soup and her peach cobbler.  She always made just about everything from scratch but, those were two of my favorite things that she would make from scratch.  The soup was always a beautiful green and the peach cobbler was perfect from the first bite to the last.  Now that she has passed away it makes me said because I know that nobody will ever fill the void; she was special in everyway and she put love into everything she would do.

When I was younger I used to go out to the Dominican Republic to visit my grandmother for the summer. Every meal was made from scratch from getting a chicken from the yard to picking and splitting peas. And every single meal was delicious.

Every Christmas I make a complete Polish ethnic meal, many of the dishes made from scratch, Pierogi's, cabbage rolls, Bortsch, etc....it's tradition. I can't bake any pies, desserts, cakes or bread without burning them to a crisp though.
