How do you take good pictures of fireworks? How do you take a good detailed picture of the moon where it doesn't look like a bright ball in the sky?

The moon question, expose only for the moon itself, so set you camera reading on one point then stop your perature down (or otherwise adjust it) until you get what you want.... It really depends on what featurs your camera has.... use your camera on the flash setting if nothing else works... its what I had to do when i had my old point and shoot...part of why I love digital... you get immediate results and it doesnt cost so much to make mistakes.

Fireworks are something I don't have a lot of experience in, but I would say a tripod, and start with auto and go from there...

I love fireworks. But I don't photograph them. Well, I did once, but it spoiled watching them. But check this.

For fireworks... tripod... about an aperture of f8 and bulb setting. Your looking at a second or two exposure and you'll get something like this...

222 journalists and media assistants have been killed in Iraq since March of 2003... more than World Wars 1 & 2, Korea & Vietnam combined.

That is nice fireworks. I will have to take my tripod with me the next time I know there are going to be fireworks here. My camera has a firework sitting on it. Do I use it? Do you have to have a special camera for the moon pictures?

Most important is to have your camera set on a tripod. And then its really up to messing with manual settings. Soo.. pretty much what Pam said.

I took this during the eclipse.

That is a cool moon pic. I have found having a timer helps with that this pics.
