Thanks for the info! I just joined and submitted a design. They said they would send an email in a few days to let me know if I have been accepted or not.

I think you have to design to the trend that is on their site. I tried different designs, but when I conformed a design to be similar in style to what is approved for the site, it was put up. The site is more marketing than deviant art, a little more of selling a preformed trended design than a forum to create different t-shirts and trends.

I had a bad experience with that site. Remember, I'm disgruntled, so that shouldn't keep you from experiencing it for yourself...

Hi Mason,

Sorry about the disappointment. I just brought the issue up with the higher-ups and advised them to put a disclaimer about the 1.5 rule on the submission page. (Sometimes what is assumed to be obvious to find actually isn't.)

We're actually considering the possibility of eliminating the 1.5 rule entirely, since it's lost it's benefit to us and the voters. We should have a solution to this problem either way soon.

Again, sorry for the unintentional blindside. Don't give up submitting!

Have a wonderful day!

Rachel

I think I have visited that site before.  I remember seeing that rule and it deterred me from even bothering to sign up to the site.  It's bad enough to worry about one's own confidence level in a piece without worrying about being kicked out of a competition before it gets off the ground.  Doesn't sound very fair or much fun to me.

"********* has been a member since November 12, 2007, has scored 12709 submissions, giving an average score of 1.23."

This information is broadcasted from a randomly selected member of threadless.com's profile. The average score range for voting on shirt designs is from 0 - 5. Go ahead and take a moment for the numbers to sink in - 12709 submissions averaging 1.23 out of 5. Over twelve thousand submissions viewed and critiqued in a span of eight months.

Now this designer/member is entitled to his/her own opinion on whatever matters presented to them, but do would you feel comfortable putting your stuff up for his/her approval?
