You need space.

We’ve got it.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Swing Space program is the link between downtown’s unused real estate and the performing and visual artists who need that space to develop, create and present their work.

In partnership with downtown landlords, we make vacant space available to artists, curators, arts groups and cultural organizations on a temporary basis for projects. Swing Space artists and arts groups are also eligible to apply for stipends ranging from $300 to $3,000 to support project costs.  The spaces we offer have included rehearsal space for dance and theater companies, studio space for visual artists, and unconventional performance and exhibition space for public projects.

Proposals are accepted through an open call and reviewed by an independent panel of artists and arts professionals.

Complete information about Swing Space, including application guidelines and details about upcoming information sessions, can be found on our website <http://www.lmcc.net/swingspace/apply> .  The online application will be available June 9, 2008, and the deadline is July 10.

Attending an information session is highly recommended. RSVP IS REQUIRED <http://www.lmcc.net/swingspace/apply> :

Tuesday, June 17, 7 pm at 210 Front Street

Thursday, June 26, 3 pm at 14 Wall Street

Please visit our website <http://www.lmcc.net/swingspace/apply>  to learn more.

Know any artists?  Pass this on!

thanks for the info... got a quick question... what are the boundaries for "downtown"?

221 journalists and media assistants have been killed in Iraq since March of 2003... more than World Wars 1 & 2, Korea & Vietnam combined.
