Hey!

i really want to go to school for art therapy.

Is there anyone that knows anything about it?

like what schools have it or where should i start?

I live in GA and i have been looking for colleges who have an arts therapy program, but I have found any.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks.

just found out that Wayne State University has a program, except you would have to come to depressed Detroit Michigan....housing would be dirt cheap though since most of them are being abandoned.......good luck i'm working on the same prospect.....

peace.....

Leslie University in Boston has a well-respected program. Look up books by Shaun McNiff, who is the head of the department.

Macy, I am in school currently for Art Therapy.

The University of Tampa has a bachelors in Fine Arts with a concentration in Art Therapy which means that you would transfer to get your masters.  From what I have been told you have to be a producing artist and when you are done with your masters which includes interning you have to apprentice for a year unpaid before you can apply for your license.  All I can say is no matter what school you choose be sure to apply for all the scholarship and or aid that you might qualify for.

The American Art Therapy Association Website has a list of educational requirements and a list of accredited schools and much more.  This is the first site my Art Therapy Teacher introduced me to.

Here are a couple  others that I have found and think may be helpful:

The Art Therapy Credentials Board  (info on maintaining credentials and much more)

AMA Helping Doctors help Patients  (a 2006 list of income for the Art Therapist)

I Seek (Plan your education)

I hope these sites will help you and when all else fails GOOGLE accredited art therapy programs.

Take care,

De
