Is Lego Art?

The director of the museum said "On opening day, we had to open the doors five hours early to accommodate the hundreds of guests waiting in line outside. In my 28 years in this business, I have never seen a response to a show like this before." The Art of the Brick has now opened at the Discovery Center Museum and will run through to September 3. The unusual thing about the sculptures of Nathan Sawaya is that they are made entirely from LEGO bricks! The Art of the Brick exhibition has more than thirty works on display with almost one million pieces of lego used to make them. I wonder how difficult it is to convince collectors that LEGO is of as much value as oils or marble to create art. I like his mosaic portraits here.
If someone listens, or stretches out a hand, or whispers a kind word of encouragement, or attempts to understand a lonely person, extraordinary things begin to happen. --Loretta Girzatlis |

Say we were all back in the stone age and somebody pointed to a rock and said "is that art?" we'd probably all laugh, and yet stone makes sculptures right? Plus, if you've ever seen the Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Millenium Falcon you'd know art |

| Posted 3 months ago Everything can be art. It's just a matter how you look at it. At least, that's what I think. "To love another person is to see the face of God."
