Ever listen to a song or saw a potrait of something and it just moved you to be a better person. Or it reminded you of something that happened in the past. how is it that such a simple thing as a cigarette can make the whole world calm?

I like the title of the topic. Sometimes I have troubles finding calmness. Painting and walking through the landscape sometimes helps.

One thing I like to do is sit on my back porch. I hung some seed bags for finches on trees I planted. I like to have a book (and cigar horror!) on hand, and watch the finches and the birds that get the seeds underneath. Sometimes a hawk comes by and scares them off, but they come back. I also planted some bushes that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Its a small space, but it give me a sense of calm even with all of the activity.

After I do this I usually feel refreshed. A song, poem, or looking at a good work of art can do the same thing for me.
