Which would you rather have, a personal portfolio site made using HTML or Flash? Why? Assume you don't have to worry about the technical side and the site will be made well. I prefer Flash, partly because I love the Flash program and partly because it allows me greater freedom for design.

Honestly... Do both. Integrate Flash and HTML together. I understand wanting to do a full flash website but it might be good to have one with both styles in it. It will show off the fact that you know how to excute both Flash and HTML, along with integrating them together. In an employers eyes, knowing one is good but two is better. Show off the fact that you are fluent in both. You can still have very nice flash animations built into HTML pages.

**If your not a graphic designer doing an online design portfolio, go with Flash it can add so much to your presentation.**

Hope it Helps!

HTML.

The two key notions for any presentation is information and impact, websites are no exception. Unless a designer is intending to impress a creative director with his/her flash prowess, simple straightforward HTML will present design work in the best light. A folio website is still just a folio which is used to get work in front of the eyes of the right people - not complicating the viewing process with flash interface, dissolves, animation, etc that flash incorporates. No one wants to learn how to use your flash website, no one likes a learning curve.

As an art director, I prefer submissions with just the folio work and contact info. I know that every designer is trying some way to make his/her work rise above the rest - the trick is not using tricks - just present good design work.

This is old, but  here's my two cents. Flash, if done over the top, can be, in my opinion, very annoying. Although most of the Webiverse has the Flash Plug-In, some of them don't. Suggest fast, simple, clean, straight-forward approach...

I think a combination of both is good, but don't go over the top with the flash. Flash can become annoying if used to much.
