| Posted about 1 year ago yesterday I shot a series of pieces using my blood injected into either egg yolk or white, both raw and lit in some pretty funky ways. As I began working on them at 3 Am this morning, I realized they all pretty much suck. well back to the drawing board. I am looking for a liquid I can suspend blood droplets in. I have tried egg white and glycerin. neither worked. i will be trying vegetable oil. any other suggestions? |

| Posted about 1 year ago I am meeting with a client who wants to put some color into her new condo. She's afraid of color and has changed her mind about three times now. It's her money.....On top of this difficult client I am editing a batch of photos I took on my recent trip to N.Y. I'll be starting a few paintings today as well. No watercolor, oil this time around. I went to MOMA and was really inspired. Actually, just leaving the house and Oakland to be somewhere else is always inspiring. Traveling always helps me overcome creative blocks. |

Sounds like you are trying to create a hybrid creature... you might be looking for the SciFi-Bistro... ;) Man, just use food coloring and then tweak the colors in photoshop or something... hahaha... kidding... good luck with this project, I hope you succeed in creating the perfect monster. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Right now I'm switching over from commissioned portraits to writing. My first novel was published and released the beginning of this month - now I'm up to chapter 12 of my new novel - an historical fiction thriller. Besides that, I'm about half way into my first oil painting in over 20 yrs - it's the first in my "Man From Snowy River & Friends" series. I already have a collector of my work who wants first bid at this oil. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Hmm everyone sounds so ambitious. I am working on a painting of a woman dealing with domestic violence, but soon I will be starting another painting to enter into a show in November. Guess I better quite chatting and get to work. Good luck to you all. . . Oh and nathangriffith have you tried resin or Galkyd Gel? I don't know if those are quite the textures you are going for but maybe they'll help. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Lets see, I have got two new paintings posted in the painting a day series, one painting in a new grouping of "Garden Lovers" of a couple making out on a park bench, another painting in process of a NYC flower shop and I am just preparing a presentation for a theatrical design, (second design team meeting) and cleaning the studio for a client meeting tomorrow morning, oh yeah, and taking down a group exhibition tomorrow as well. | Posted about 1 year ago It's great to hear of such creativity flowing! Congrats everyone! I'm currently working on an acrylic painting of a chrysler, late 50's. Pop art style. I'm about 12 hrs in. Most paintings take 24-36 hrs. I have to leave my easel up in my room so when I get up I HAVE to look at it, and it stays in my face so I feel like I MUST FINISH THIS. Otherwise my scatterbrain finds other "projects". |

| Posted about 1 year ago nathangriffith said: Hi Nathan, My wife worked at a nursing home, and they used a product called Thick-It to thicken water for the patients. I know...sounds gross! But this might work if you're wanting to keep the liquid clear so the blood stays the same color. I don't think it changes the color of what you put it in. http://www.dautermanmedical.com/html/ThickIt.htm |
