Currentally I'm working on designing a webcomic and setting up everything for this website since it only loads jpeg and gif. No big deal though because at least it's here to do it.

At the studio, doing illustrations for a music video for BET and storyboarding for Metalocalypse...

And on my own time, drawing a comic that needs to be done by the end of the year.

yesterday I shot a series of pieces using my blood injected into either egg yolk or white, both raw and lit in some pretty funky ways. As I began working on them at 3 Am this morning, I realized they all pretty much suck. well back to the drawing board. I am looking for a liquid I can suspend blood droplets in. I have tried egg white and glycerin. neither worked. i will be trying vegetable oil. any other suggestions?

I am meeting with a client who wants to put some color into her new condo. She's afraid of color and has changed her mind about three times now. It's her money.....On top of this difficult client I am editing a batch of photos I took on my recent trip to N.Y. I'll be starting a few paintings today as well. No watercolor, oil this time around. I went to MOMA and was really inspired. Actually, just leaving the house and Oakland to be somewhere else is always inspiring. Traveling always helps me overcome creative blocks.

OK Nathan... you win for most disturbing project...

Your own blood in an egg?!?!?! Sounds like you are trying to create a hybrid creature... you might be looking for the SciFi-Bistro... ;)

Man, just use food coloring and then tweak the colors in photoshop or something... hahaha... kidding... good luck with this project, I hope you succeed in creating the perfect monster.

I'm working on branding a band.. logos are what I'm doing now, then working a website, and promo materials.

We (my friend, aka the manager, and I) are looking for hand coders as well, since both of us are pretty mediocre at it. We can a pretty small sum, but it is a sum. Anyone interested?

I'm working on a comic. It is so much fun, drawing out my characters and setting up the pages with panels, and dialog!

Right now I'm switching over from commissioned portraits to writing. My first novel was published and released the beginning of this month - now I'm up to chapter 12 of my new novel - an historical fiction thriller. Besides that, I'm about half way into my first oil painting in over 20 yrs - it's the first in my "Man From Snowy River & Friends" series. I already have a collector of my work who wants first bid at this oil.

Hmm everyone sounds so ambitious. I am working on a painting of a woman dealing with domestic violence, but soon I will be starting another painting to enter into a show in November. Guess I better quite chatting and get to work. Good luck to you all. . . Oh and nathangriffith have you tried resin or Galkyd Gel? I don't know if those are quite the textures you are going for but maybe they'll help.

Lets see, I have got two new paintings posted in the painting a day series, one painting in a new grouping of "Garden Lovers" of a couple making out on a park bench, another painting in process of a NYC flower shop and I am just preparing a presentation for a theatrical design, (second design team meeting) and cleaning the studio for a client meeting tomorrow morning, oh yeah, and taking down a group exhibition tomorrow as well. And right now, I am hoping to go to sleep having driven back to Richmond from NYC getting in at about 3:00 am, damn, I'm still awake and I obviously have a lot on for tomorrow

I'm in the middle of a 5-part graphic novel retelling an Indian epic from around 500 BCE. It's got a blue-skinned protagonist, demons, shape-shifting, and an army of talking, anthropomorphic monkeys. :-D

I'm waiting to hear back from a museum about a proposal for an installation. In the meantime I am trying to learn how to use Premier Pro to edit some video that I took in China. Any experts out there in case I get totally frustrated?

I am building my artist website and drawing. And painting. Drawings are whatever comes to mind...and I am going to start a new painting series of human body shots. Interesting compositions of the body with some cool color choices. I just met Antoine de Villers at the Las Vegas art expo, and that really inspired me. She was really really cool.

I am waiting on content for a book of corriculum to be used in training managers and leaders in a large company. As soon as I get it I work like a busy beaver.
Also, I am contemplating this thing called the "Chades Challenge." It is a group of people who draw character design based on two words, a noun and an adjective, suggested by fellow artists. This week is "ferocious Gator." You check some of my past posts at:

if you have any interest, scroll down the page a bit.

It's great to hear of such creativity flowing! Congrats everyone! I'm currently working on an acrylic painting of a chrysler, late 50's. Pop art style. I'm about 12 hrs in. Most paintings take 24-36 hrs. I have to leave my easel up in my room so when I get up I HAVE to look at it, and it stays in my face so I feel like I MUST FINISH THIS. Otherwise my scatterbrain finds other "projects".

Hi Nathan,
My wife worked at a nursing home, and they used a product called Thick-It to thicken water for the patients. I know...sounds gross! But this might work if you're wanting to keep the liquid clear so the blood stays the same color. I don't think it changes the color of what you put it in.
