| Description: | A consumer camera with some really nice features. |
First of all, the good: An excellent 12x Schneider-Krueznach optical zoom, image stabilization and an 8.2 megapixel chip make for excellent image quality.
There is not much picture noise at the lower ISOs, and not as much as you might expect at ISOs that extend up to 3200. Controls are well-placed and easy to find. It has a sharp, 2.5 inch viewing screen, which can switch to a viewfinder with a well-located button.
A very nice feature is in-camera panorama, which allows you to take a full-resolution panorama in three steps. Also, the 720p, 30-frame/second video is pretty amazing.
Now, the not-so-good.... There is appreciable shutter lag time, and perhaps even worse... it doesn't take RAW.
The Lithium battery it ships with is DISPOSABLE, and a rechargable Kodak brand replacement battery costs $60, plus the price of the charger... BUT, I found compatible batteries on Amazon for about $7 apiece, and a charger for about the same.
All in all, it's a pretty nice little camera, until I can afford a Canon SLR.
