| Description: | Adobe's Flagship electronic layout application. |
Adobe has really brought its "A" game with this version. It's as far up from the original CS as CS was from InDesign 2.0.
It's hard to cover all the reasons why you'd want to get this in a short review and do it justice, but just a few of the worthwhile features include:
• Inclusion of Photoshop-style effecs without having to fire up Photoshops
• New and powerful searching (with Unix-style GREP and style-based searches, there's nothing you won't find)
• New Panel based interface still works like before, but you can have 'em big and butch or reduced to little icons, only popping out when you need them. Welcome back screen real-estate on those smaller screen workstations! Or you can have it as cluttered or as spare as you want!
• customizable menus mean you see what you need and don't have to be bothered with what you never use. Also save customized menu arrangements as workspaces to really improve workflows.
• You can place InDesign documents into other InDesign documents (try doing THAT with QuarkXPress!)
On top of that, all the slickness that is InDesign has come through. If there's anything that really deserves the tags "new and improved", then Indy CS3 is it. If you want to do serious layout, this is the tool. There is no other!
Quark’s days are now numbered. Watch out! iDesign is the new powerhouse and backbone of the design industry.
Great user interface, and easy to pick up and use. If you're running the CS2 version, get the upgrade.
This product would normally receive five stars. This could still happen if I could work through an entire day without the program bogging my system down. Adobe, please provide a patch or update to fix this problem.
It's a great program!
