The Nikon D40X has enough functionality to allow me to be as creative as I like with the camera. It does almost as much as the big boys, yet its small, lightweight body is perfect for my smaller hands; they don't get tired after a day of shooting like they do with the larger footprint cameras. Controls are easy to find and use. My old Nikon SLR lenses mount right to it (no af but I rarely use it). With 10MP it's a great entry level DSLR (especially for the price) that I feel I can get a few good years out of.

I love the quality of this camera. Its durable and has beautiful capture quality. With the high mega pixal settings, theres nothing this camera can not capture. This is my first SLR I've owned, and now i see just what I have been missing out on, this is the BMW of Cameras. I'll have more to say when I play with it a little more. Later!

I love my nikon but there is one problem that I have encountered. There is a problem with the shutter. After a year, I got an error message that told me -slow shutter and to depress shutter again. Alas, I was losing the top half of my photos. So I had to send it in for repair.
