It works in hand in hand with CS3. A great combination for work flow and image organization.

The concept is spectacular: you can "fix" one photo in a shoot and then use that fix to fix all the related photos in the set. Too dark? Wrong color temperature? Fix one and then Lightroom will fix the rest.

Also this is a great way to catalog your files, you can also add metadata file info to your images in bulk. keywords, copyrights, locations, jobs, peoples names, etc etc etc. etc right into in the metadata of each image and do it for one or hundreds of files at once.

You can process the images individually or in bulk with darkroom effects -(But not with spot repairs like in photoshop. You treat the entire image, though you can crop and resize.

If you are using raw files, the changes you make are stored in a .XMP file and the original raw file is not harmed by any permanent changes. (not sure about .jpg images) You can print right from Lightshop or export images in any size or make a webpage right from Lightroom.

If you want to alter the "content" of an image, you'll need a program like Photoshop CS3, but to alter the "perception" of an image, lightroom is your perfect darkroom. It can reduce noise, increase contrast, fix shadow detail, and lots lots more.

One problem I have with this program is that it seems to use a lot of my laptop computers' "Headroom" or working space. It seems to go slower that I think it should and slows down other programs. But I keep my images on a USB harddrive and work mainly with raw (Nikon NEF) files and the problem MIGHT be due to the file size and interface rather than the program. But it does annoy me that the program is too slow for my tastes. Maybe I just need a faster (and perhaps dedicated ) computer. I use my laptop for everything.

But if it worked faster, I'd give it a 5 star rating. i LOVE THE PROGRAM. I just hate the lack of speed.

simply one of the best RAW workflow products available today. when you finish a shoot you can select your picks, Rate them, edit the raw functions, do batch corrections, mark you copywrite and export the files for the client. In addition there are modules for printing, slide shows, and creating web pages. This product goes a long way in stemming the tide of the data flood.
