I got this when I bought my d200 as a back-up. It is one of the MOST versatile lenses I have used in a long time. It's compact... quick and well, with VR on... QUICKER! The optics are incredible… minimal ghosting… just a great all-around addition. Even though it’s not considered a Macro lens… it’s not bad! It went on my d200... and I now find myself picking up that camera more often than my d2... go figure. They're hard to come by but if you get a chance to test one out... by all means do!
great for any nikon user
great in decent lighting situations. pick up this with a 1.4 and you're set.
A gem of a lens. Versitile is definitely the right word. Just don't drop it from 6ft. while it's extended - it'll break....trust me.
Ha ha!
Don't drop it from 4 ft either! $145 repair from Nikon USA (Paid today)
But it's a nice versatile lens for most occasions.
However, the barrel distortion at the wide end will make this unsuitable for indoor architectural work. Tried and loved the new ($1789) 14-24 2.8 Nikor zoom yesterday . . . I resisted the temptation though . . . (so far)
This is my first lens so far I have some very shots with it. It is very versatile.
