As an animator, this is definitely one of my favorite tools. Complex, but powerful and flexible as well. That said, I still feel 3D programs are really all about what flavor you "grew up on". :)

Probably the best 3D software on the market ... packs a lot of bang for your buck

If you wanna feel like god on your computer, this is the tool to amazing creativity. My advice though is to be patient when learning to use it and to have a lot of RAM and as my tutor suggested, always save.

It's great if you can get your head wrapped around it.

Very powerful program, and one can keep learning new ways to create things for years to come...

I've used Maya at 5 studios over countless projects and it's one of the better 3d solutions out there when it comes to large scale production. While it does take a bit more time to learn when compared to packages like 3ds Max, Maya's strength is its fairly open architecture. Additionally, Maya ships with a fairly robust SDK/API as well as support for Python, .NET (unofficially), and its own native scripting language, which empowers users to create their own tools.

Maya is a very powerful animation software package. It is worth the sharp learning curve. Each release gets better and better. I hope that one day, the TRAX EDITOR is all that it should be, which is why I rate the program a 4/5.

This is my number one tool.
I started with Max but Max kept dieing and was frustrating.
No matter how much Maya I know theirs still a lot I don't know.

I've been using this software since 2006 and I still like to use it. While in school we were able to use other 3d programs but I've always seem to come back to this one.

I love animating on this software.
