This is a tool? I think of it more as a vital organ :-) Best computer I've ever owned... Beautiful screen, and powerful computing engines make this an excellent pick.

If you have to buy a laptop its either this for a mac or an ASUS if you pick PC. I used one for about a year and it was one of the best and sturdiest laptops I ever owned. My only complaint would be that my laptop tended to get a bit hot on the bottom.

I love my MacBook Pro! All the power you need to run basic and advanced imaging and video software... and not having to be chained to a desk!

The MacBook Pro is just amazing. As someone who does freelance work, it's so vital to my work. Having things like the video confrencing and iChat is very helpful in keeping in touch with clients and potential clients and just to keep in touch with people I can normally get to see. It's very fast and able to hold a lot of information. If your into a fast, portable computer, this is the one for you.

It's as much a part of me as it is my own brain! I have a love hate relationship with it, though. As it is made out of aluminum, it conducts heat. Not the best material for a LAPTOP, I must say, but it's a tool I defiantly couldn't live without.

I use it every day along with an external hard drive; even though I also have a Power PC G5 at work and an iMac G5 at home, this laptop is on at all time. It is a good move to use a cooling pad to prolong its life.

The laptop to get if you plan on using 2D design and illustration programs. Not very upgradable but it doesn't need to be. I definitely favor apple's OS over windows as it is more visually and practically inclined. It is also easier to maintain due to the fact that there are next to no viruses or spyware that infiltrate into your Hardrive. Applications do have a tendency to crash more frequently (ergo: save! save! save!), but at least when apple crashes, it doesn't wipe out your system or accidently launch a nuclear missile or something. Also, the resale value of a mac (because we now live in the Age of Ebay) is far superior to a PC even though macs have a higher price tag. It is a fantastic investment, very pretty and shiny (that's right, shiny), and less of a headache to upkeep. If you don't need a laptop, consider Mac Pro.

After I became fed up with a PC laptop for creating my art, I switched to mac while I was in art college and let me say this: They may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for. I'm not just saying this because I work for Apple now (haha) but I'm truly passionate about what this machine can do for artists, both professionals and students alike. It's intuitive, sleek, has an intel core due processor, as well as a new operating system called Leopard that kicks some serious ass! With the quick look features it's easy to view all of your work in a cover flow format, and also comes packed with the ilife suite that contains 5 programs that enable any artist to create dvds of their portfolios, videos, create music easily, and so much more! It's like a digital artbox inside the industry's top of the line laptop!

I just bought my macbook pro 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it. I don't know how I used a PC all these years. It's sturdy, does not crash. MACOS is also not virus prone like windows. Nice looking machine too.

Before this MacBook Pro, I had a Powerbook G4, which was a little heavier, but much more sturdy. When I hardly push on the top of the computer when the screen is closed, it bows inwards a lot and feels "cheaper". Also the key pad is the same way, when you push around the keys the all bow and warp. However, the track pad is far bigger, the new operating system is nice, and the computer is basically the same, just made a little crappier...(this coming from a dedicated Mac supporter).

I'll admit...I used to be PC user...until my dad bought me my first Mac (a G4). Now that I have my MacBook Pro, there is no limit! This little guy does everything for me, photo editing, video editing, music making, movie watching, and on and on. I absolutely couldn't live without this!

Love this laptop! It is easy to make the transition from PC land to Mac world. Now I'm hooked on Apple products and their unique and exquisite product design. I use my MAC with Parallels software so that I can still run Autocad. Love Parallels...allows toggling between operating systems without rebooting. Very efficient.

I really love this computer because it looks good and it performs very well quietly. If you get the latest version, you get LED lighting, bigger hard drive, standard 2GB of RAM and a unique mouse scrolling technique. It only starts at $1,999 for the 15 inch, and the extended warranty cost an extra $249. And yes, upgrades are available.

I have had this computer for 2 years, right after it came out. It became necessary for me to be versatile in where I had to work.
I could not be happier. I am editing photos and film at the same time.
I agree, heat is a problem. I keep mine on a lucite stand which has relieved that problem.
I have worked on Macs for the better part of my adult life. I am truly a MAC enthusiast.
