Old, but a workhorse. I've been shooting it since canon released it, and though image quality is not the bleeding edge anymore, I am more than satisfied with this camera for web use, and some print output. This camera is sturdy, and has been extensively 'field tested,' from humid southeast Asia, to the dusty brush of South Africa, and it has never once mechanically failed, despite drops, knocks, and general "tough love."
Would make a decidedly good backup camera, or a great, cheap used option for an aspiring digital photographer, as it is compatible with EF lenses which are widely regarded to be amongst the best lenses for the 35mm. equivalent market.
I heartily agree with Chris. At the time, it was the best I could afford and I never for a day regret buying it. For what it is, it does a great job. And to push it even further, spend decent money on some middle-upper level lenses. The very difference a good lens will make with this camera is amazing. I am soon looking forward to upgrading my camera (i thought this month, but my big check isn't arriving until next). But I will be keeping my 10D on as the camera that will always be on my back anytime I need that second perspective.
This is a great camera! I've been using it for at least 4 years now and it has yet to fail me. Whether it is cold or hot, this camera holds its own.
I know there have been upgrades, but for those of us who do not make a ton of money, this camera works great!
I love this camera, it works great!
I lover this camera. It was my first DSLR and I still like to use it.
