Builds on the organizational tools of Adobe Bridge and gives you quick access to the basic photo editing features of Adobe Photoshop. Much more accessibly priced for photographers than the full Creative Suite line covers most of what a photographer might need from day-to-day. The organizational tools and metadata editing tools are much better than iPhoto or something you might get with your PC.

I can't tout this addition enough... I love the workflow. Designed for photographers by photographers. The program reads my mind... AND... for those of you who are looking to upgrade to CS3 right now you can get $100.00 rebate on both CS3 and lightroom.

I started out with iPhoto which suited me for basic image organization. I upgraded to Aperture, which I thought was fantastic at the time. Organization and editing capabilities beyond the basics of iPhoto. The negative of Aperture, however, is that it has a proprietary library. The images are locked into a single file and not stored on the hard drive individually. From Aperture I moved to Bridge, which I was super excited about (no proprietary library!) but it crashed constantly, and had no real image editing capability. Then came Lightroom... Organize, edit (with photoshop-strength editing), publish and print, create a web page (wow!), all in this one program. No crashing and smooth transitions between functions. I'd give it ten stars if I could.

The best thing about Lightroom is that it takes all of the best photography tools from Photoshop and puts it all in one incredible program that is has a great layout and work flow but isn't overwhelming for beginners. It's also MUCH more affordable than Photoshop.

Hands Down, the best organizational tools aside from photoshop. Good for easy photo editing. Good starter program for avid beginner and amateur photographers. Easy to handle and understand.

simply one of the best RAW workflow products available today. when you finish a shoot you can select your picks, Rate them, edit the raw functions, do batch corrections, mark you copywrite and export the files for the client. In addition there are modules for printing, slide shows, and creating web pages. This product goes a long way in stemming the tide of the data flood.

As usual, you buy a software product, and a new version is on the shelf within 60 days! Well, okay a Beta 2.0 version is available to download for a free 30 day trial. Adobe did make some great improvements in the new Beta version. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
