| Description: | In this groundbreaking new primer, leading design educator and historian Ellen Lupton provides clear and concise guidance for anyone learning or brushing up on their typographic skills. |
I own this book and it has some good ideas for people struggling with typography. I would recommend it to anyone starting out in the field.
This book is fantastic. Not only does it explain the basic aspects of type, it shows you how to use them and use them correctly. There are tons of examples, history, and simple break downs. It's great for anyone just learning, or a seasoned designer.
This was my very first book in graphic design major =)
But honestly, I didn't find it that helpful to learn about typography. The author could've explained in a lot easier way with more clarity. Still you can try it because everyone has a different way of learning things.
easy to follow test with images
clear understanding of the basics of fonts
Does a decent job teaching the material. However the book is over designed, oftentimes sacrificing organization for a cool look. Which is ironic because its supposed to teach you how to properly handle type.
