| Description: | One of the most reliable and popular watercolor papers in the world. Mould-made in france from 100% cotton rag fibers, gelatin-sized, air dried and hand inspected. Tough enough to endure scrubbing, scratching and erasing, and still accept colors evenly, with just the right amount of absorbency. Same Arches, taped and glued into blocks. 20 sheets each. |
I took this watercolor block to Norway for two months and it was perfect. It fit into my suitcase well and was easy to cart around. Since then it has been my preferred watercolor paper of this size. I prefer the hot press to the cold press finish.
I've tried a gazillion different kinds of watercolor paper; if you're looking for a hot press, this is it. Arches rules. Every now and then I balk at the price and wind up trying something else... just to come running back to Arches. The paint just sits so nicely on its surface. Seriously head and shoulders above all other papers I've bought. Get some now.
All these Arches watercolor papers seem to be top of the line to me. One good tip before use is to make sure the paper is fully submerged in water. Leave it soaking there for hours. Once it is saturated and ready your results will be even better. The amount of absorbency is very important to the desired effects and for those who believe and care about techniques this product will prove to be the best.
As far as hot press papers gp this brand is THE BEST!!!!! I always get better results when trying out certain techniques like glazing, and wet on wet. I prefer the blocks when I'm working out a painting, then i move on to the roll. Soaking for a long time is good advice. I also love the texture of the cold press. the hot and cold press of Arches paper are superb.
Now that I have discovered single large sheets of 300 lb paper, I do not use these anymore, because you still have to stretch these to a board
The Chanel of Hot Press Paper
I use this for some of my acrylic and ink designs . It is wonderfully suitable for the effects I'm after
love it love it. try not to leave home without it. chalk pastels work well with it too when ur on the go!
I find that this paper is really good for lithography as well as painting on... holds up really nice.
The texture of the paper is wonderful for watercolors, but I've also used it for acrylics. Also, because the sides are taped down, you don't have to worry about the paper curling up or warping.
WATERCOLOR PAPER IS ALWAYS NICE
This is the best quality small format paper I have ever used.
High quality paper. I use it when I travel. Can paint right from the block. Took it to Italy.
I like these small blocks for practicing. They hold up well to my unskilled hands. :P
Quite possibly the best paper on the market for experienced artists. Even though they expensive, you really do get what you pay for.
Cost more and worth it!
