| Description: | The gold standard in oil paint for over 300 years. PACKED with pigment. |
Top notch oil paint. Nobody can touch their cadmiums, they are so packed with pigment. For earths, any brand will do, but for all else Old Holland reigns supreme. For Cadmium orange and a few other colors I prefer Schminke Mussini, because Old Holland's versions are too deep and electrifying, but that's a matter of personal taste. Old Holland is king of oil paint.
thick rich bold colors, great!
Old Holland is a wonderful paint. It is VERY heavily pigmented and they use no colorless fillers or binders. They have been making paint for over 300 years, so they have the process down to perfection. The paints are so densely pigmented that most people find them quite thick in comparision to most other commercial brands, but they stretch really far due to the pigment load.
I started painting MANY years ago. After a lot of trial and error, and replacing all of my paints (almost) with Old Holland, I can paint with fewer surprises. What's worse than having a white turn yellow on you when you're 3/4 of the way through a painting that has a relatively cool palette? Not Much! The colors are rich, never squeezes out oil, just a superb line of profucts.
Most undoubtedly my favorite paint. Though costly, the pigments are brilliant and the flow is always consistent. I know when I use this paint that the quality is unquestionable and the colours lush and full.
