I got this camera way back in 1977, and incredibly I still have it and use it, proving no doubt that Nikon's are built to last. Yes, I long for a new film camera and a digital, but for now this remains my "baby" The Nikkormat EL-W was just one step below the famous Nikon F series, and when new just as pricey. The "W" part meant it had the capability to have an autowinder for fast action photography.
One can still come across these "ancient" cameras and at a steal now for maybe only about $100 --to me my 1977 camera us priceless.
I have a Nikomat. It is the Japan version of the Nikkormat. I have shot a lot of my African images with it. The titanium shutter at 125th was and is a great feature. I got it from my father in 1967. Still works. Great Camera!
