    This is something I notice doesn't seem of importance to upcoming artists. Even here on ArtBistro I see a lack of actual critique. 98% of the time I get "nice" comments when I'd rather have the cold hard truth.

    Great read! I very much enjoyed writing critiques in Art History class. Hmmm... I wonder if an anonymous comment (or critique!) would reveal more insight on the art pieces rated on this site...

    I found this article helpful. I went through a lot of critiques in college, and this was a good refresher. I like it when people say more than one or two words when they make a comment on my work. If they rate it low, they should say why. Members should take a look at this.

    i was told in art school that if people sing your praises, vomit or anything in between, you're doing it right. it's when they don't notice you at all, you're in trouble.
