Personal

About Me:
I was a working staff photojournalist for nearly 20 years. I put my camera down for a while and recently picked it up again. Photography isn't a hobby for me, it's how I maintain balance. I own a small studio as a part-time business and am attending graduate school in Marriage and Family Therapy. I learned photography in the old school...black and white film and the darkroom. I like to say I have screwed up more photos than most people will ever take. I also learned photo retouch in the old school with a triple 000 camel hair brush and dyes. I learned this skill from one whom I consider a master at the craft. I watched her remove triple chins, open eyes and put a slight grin on a photo. She was amazing. I am slowing learning to transfer the retouching skills to digital. It's not enough to simply send an image through a couple of filters and call it good. For me, it's not good enough.
