About Me:
I currently live in Williamsburg. I have a cute dog, a PBGV (Petite Bassett Griffon VenDeen). My only son, Teddy, is a sophomore at college studying environmental science. I lived near or in New Hope, Bucks County, PA much of my life and that is where my sense of natural beauty and love of architecture were formed. I love the country; open fields, brooks, old Quaker homes, stone rows between fields, farms and barns and little outbuildings. I walk or cycle or go to the gym every day. I prefer the outdoors when weather is good and fresh mown grass, honeysuckle, gardenia or wild roses lace the air. My husband began his career as a furniture maker but became a builder for financial reasons. I sold him the lot that we ended up building our first house on. I am very pro environment and would like to see smaller cars that are very efficient and clean, and more homes powered by solar and geothermal means and perhaps hydrogen as they are doing in Europe now. I think some sort of water saving such as big cisterns like they have in Bermuda would benefit our homes, where lawns can be watered (if you must have a lawn) from rainfall rather then our fresh water sources. Eco planting is necessary too, plants that like the climate where they are. There are lots of things we can do. Ecology education should be part of the school program starting with simple things in kindergarten.

    It's Mimi, Funny you should mention more energy efficient housing. I am a certified Feng Shui practitioner and my hubby and I live in a passive solar house on 7 acres . I am really interested in alternative housing, (i.e., container cargo, and modern modular housing like they show in DWELL magazine. I really believe housing is a major rip off and out of reach when so much can be utilized using recycled materials and other stuff. Have you checked out TUmbleweed Tiny hOmes? Go on YOUTUBE and check them out.
