- About Me:
- Process: I am a minimalist-expressionist painter because to love things is to love them profoundly. I paint by intuition because the work is not mere passive perception or daydreaming. It is indefinable but realizable in painting. It is inner vision formulated into images. Having been inundated by exposure to art throughout my life, I have chosen painting as a vehicle of expression. The work pertains to emotive issues and how they are mirrored in nature. Once established, this link provides the primary guide for my work. The creative act follows a course, which is “stream of consciousness”. From the first sketch to the last glaze I allow intuition to aid me in discussing what is ineffable. These choices though aided by intellect, are based on what is deeply felt. My process begins with a bit of writing to determine where I am mentally and emotionally. I use a square format for equal sides, which convey a balanced feel in the overall work. I begin with a warm ground to create various warm hues while painting. I continue to work with speed and momentum to include spontaneity and surprise. After a time of momentum I observe what I have made. I then write more about the work out of observation to determine what has been intuitively revealed. I am interested in making the ordinary extraordinary.

Your work has a depth of spirit that comes across even on a computer screen. I would love to see these pieces in person. There's a mystical quality that really pulls me in. The pieces I've viewed are really beautiful. Thanks, also, for the comments on my work.

Lily, thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful compliments (especially for "The Void"). As for TPBM, you humble me as well. Keep up the great work.

The fact that people break down and cry when confronted with my pictures shows that I can communicate those basic human emotions.. the people who weep before my pictures are having the same religious experience I had when painting them. And if you say you are moved only by their color relationships then you miss the point. Mark Rothko
