About Me:
My newest work will be showcased in an exhibition at Woodlands Gallery, Winnipeg, opening night September 25th, 2008. I have a website http://www.hughgrice.com There you can see my Irish landscapes as well as my prairie work. I live in Winnipeg , Manitoba for 9 months of the year and spend my winters in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland. I was born and educated in Belfast and have a Master's degree in art education. In 1991 my free standing sculpture "Reflections" was shown in Dublin during the year it was the European City of Culture. My last exhibition of my prairie and Irish paintings was at Woodlands Gallery in Winnipeg in 2007. At the moment, I am preparing for another show in the fall at Woodlands. My work can be seen at Woodlands Gallery, Winnipeg, Effusion Art Gallery, Invermere, and the Galeries Beauchamps in Quebec City. I also show my Irish landscapes in the Janet Ross Gallery in Ramelton, Co. Donegal, Ireland and in the Battletown Gallery in Co. Down, N. Ireland I work every day and am especially interested in the application of paint and colour. I apply the paint without brushes -- using a palette knife or bits of cardboard.
