About Me:: My background is unique in that I am a pet portrait artist and a registered nurse. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting since I was 5, and my mother still has my first drawing of a giraffe. The problem is I am enthusiastic about so many things and feel that there is so much left to learn in my life I hope I have time to do all of it. I really enjoy my current case manager job which involves a lot of education and assistance to many people. Everything I have been exposed to in some way has had a positive impact on everything else, including my college experience in Journalism. While at college I took photography classes and art classes, but I started to have a better understanding of what I wanted to express about 20 years ago, when I concentrated on animal portraits. My goal is to impart a sense of personality and tactile texture to my paintings. People tell me they get a connection to my subjects. Art is a way to integrate all of the multiple facets of my life. I have exhibited locally at public venues, coffee houses and galleries, and have won awards from NJWS s, GSWS and East Brunswick Visual Arts, as well as Perkins Center for the Arts. I also continue to do private commission work of animal and human subjects.

Your animal drawings are fantastic. That's something that I need to draw more of. Do you use reference for them? Sometimes I enjoy going to the zoo and drawing the animals. :)
