Created 5 months ago Description: Correllations can be established amongst objects, ideas, as well as phenomena both natural and unnatural. These occuring examples of likeliness in character can be viewed, in most part, as trivial, daily observations; however, some instances prove themselves more elusive in perception than others and should merit a slightly more deductive eye. My practice seeks to enlighten the viewer of various organizations of social decay through examination of similar constructs of control, allure, solace as well as horror and the grotesque. The ability to give the viewer the chance opportunity to look at two completely different entities, find the disturbing similarites, and then see past the facade of both is what drives the basis of this series. The desire to explore these concepts, upon which I have most extensively observed, obsessively researched, and in most part experienced, stems from the the want to unwrap, in a way, the common notions regarding the true fabric of what these deceptive entities embody. One of the most thoroughly examined corollaries in my work is the peculiar convergence of both Christianity use and Narcotic abuse, or vice versa of the predication. While examining these very different practices I found that not only is the explicit unusually bizarre, but the implicit far more curious. The idea of the explicit simply notes the correlation of Narcotics Anonymous, and it's idea of being cured is simply to replace one addiction of substance with a speculative notion of reaching a similar spiritual addiction.. their deity. The implicit reveals the core of the structural apparatus at work. This correlation dictates the causality of both entities in regard to long term exposure of the dependent elements of each. Both addictions serve as a temporary release, or escape from the stressors of everyday life. The obsession with critiquing such afflcitions that carry such a burden on both the individual as well as society has been the main motivation in my work for the last several years.
