Description: Decadence is a condition that can be characterized most aptly as both: as a social process in which society begins a period of deterioration or decline, as in morals or art, decay. And inter-laced throughout this decay of civilization one finds himself 'dressed to the nines' in the most excessively priced refinements of the day. When one tries to envision 'decadence'; 17th century France may come to mind, under Bourbon reign of the " Sun King". Or quite possibly, Rome in her early stages of decline, entrusted to excessive, self-indulgent megalomaniac rulers of the time. Now many believe our own society could fit this category. If one wants to see what drives our nation, one must simply learn of the nations' 'dream', "the American Dream". The excessive enterprise of mass-consumption on all fronts in which the insatiable drives of both primitive, and modern man engaged wholesale in an all out devastation of commodities both material as well as immaterial. Through a multiple of facets, in hopes of satisfaction to every drive anxiously yearning, solely for a resolution in utterly all levels of personal pleasure through that lifestyle. This cancer-like affliction that's attacking our society is the topic of my criticiscm that's descibed within the "jouissance" series. My aim is to identify, or label the actual 'American Gaze' of the world in conjunction with what dreams it holds dear, as well as how it gauges the success of itself as well as other nations of the worl
