Created 8 months ago Description: For about 10 years I practiced drawing using the model. Once a week for three hour long work sessions, we -- a group of about 10 artists -- gathered at a local college studio classroom. I paced the model to begin with 1 minute long poses, up through 5, 15 and finally30 minute long poses. It is a wonderful work atmosphere, and it is intense. Seeing how others work is always constructive. I often worked in an over-life-size format, unfurling large rolls of paper as the drawing sessions progressed. My goal was to break free from the dense details of the photorealism spree. I wanted the drawings to appear fresh, and to have a minimum amount of lines. This was much more difficult to do than the detailed earlier drawings. These drawings are often clumsy and show that struggle. But with the immediacy and quick timing, emotional expressiveness of the drawings was different each session. Category: Drawing (Images)
